LIFE: A Love Story / Boswell Books, in conversation with Christina Clancy – Milwaukee, WI

March 25 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Boswell welcomes New York Times bestseller Elizabeth Berg, author of beloved novels including The Story of Arthur Truluv and Open House, for an evening featuring her latest novel, Life: A Love Story. This warm, intimate novel reminds readers of the richness that can be found all throughout our lives. Berg will be in conversation with Wisconsinite Christina Clancy, author of novels like Shoulder Season and The Snowbirds.

Show and tell time! Authors Berg and Clancy want audience members to tell their own stories of love and life. Attendees are encouraged to bring an object from home that holds special meaning to their own life story to ‘show and tell’ about during the event.

As ninety-two-year-old Florence “Flo” Greene nears the end of her life, she writes a letter to Ruthie, the woman who grew up next door. On the surface, Flo describes all the things she will be leaving Ruthie in her will. But as the letter goes on, telling surprising stories about the “little” things Flo will leave behind (What could possibly be the worth of a rubber band kept in a matchbox tied up in red ribbon?), an unforgettable portrait of the life she has lived emerges. The letter starts off as an autobiography in things, but it turns out to do much more than that: ultimately, it will transform Flo and those around her.

Full of Elizabeth Berg’s characteristic mix of warmth, humor and poignancy, Life: A Love Story is a reminder that whatever your circumstances, as long as you’re alive, you can keep on investing in life. The joy will inevitably follow.
